Just wondering if my 9.5in Dynamic would hold up to the new combo ? The previous 446 made 535hp/540tq while the new 572 makes 705hp/720tq. Both motors have very similar power curves (peak tq 4500/peak hp 6000)

The 9.5 flashed up to 4100 with the old combo.

Thanks, Ron

I bet it won't......I've used a LOT of those converters in 11.0 and slower cars and they worked pretty good......Faster than that and I started having issues and have since switched to PTC.....

I would be surprised if the big engine didn't simply drive through the old converter.

We have a 9.5 Dynamic converter in our 73 Cuda 522 RB 730 Roller Pro Comp heads 411 Ratio Car weighs 3550 with driver Speced for a trans brake but we're footbraking it. Estimate 650 at the rear wheels Its been 10.40@130 Flashes to 5400 We have about 30 passes with no issues Randy

Hi Ron. I have the same converter and used it with success on my last combo.I spoke to Frank Lupo about my new engine combo which should make near 900hp and he thought it might be border line. He thought I should try it and if it holds up great or go to a 9" next time.

Thanks for the feedback guys

I had a new custom converter built for the 572 but it won't seat properly in the trans. It looks like the hub is shorter than it needs to be and the anti balooning plate is contacting the front seal.

I'll call Dynamic and see what they have to say but i'm thinking this converter won't hold up for any length of time. It was originally specced for a 383 race application.

This really bites because i was hoping to have the car at Norwalk.

Update ; we spoke with Dynamic and Frank said the 9.5in unit is waaaay too loose for the current combo. He predicted it would stall at 6000 with the 572.

The custom converter is back with the builder and he's fixing it. The fitment issue is the Stator splines which are too tall and the converter is bottoming out on the stator support before the input shaft and pump lugs are fully engaged. The converter needs another 1/2in of travel to seat properly. This was confirmed by my trans guy Doug Miller (Fireball Transmissions)

I should have the converter back sometime this week with any luck.

Unfortunately this setback means i won't make Norwalk.

I went from 3.75 stroke to 4.25 stroke and dropped 1 point in compression. My Dynamic converter flashed 4200 behind the 440, after the crank swap it flashed 5600.

I LOVE the 9.5" in my 440 GTX! Great for a dual-purpose car! Flashes to 4500rpm behind my 575hp engine!
