I have a '69 GTX, 440, 4 speed car. It's pure stock with the dual points ignition. Today, I was driving and a could smell something burning. A few seconds later a puff of white smoke came for between the hood and cowl that lasted for about two seconds. Then the car quit and wouldn't start again. I changed the voltage regulator and it started right up. It ran for about 20 seconds then quit again and now it won't start again. Any thoughts from the experts out there?

Thanks - Ron

Start w a good visual inspection to see what shorted (a wire touching the ex/grn etc). What burned up on the VR circuit?

Smoke not observed, but I fried an Ignition Module one time on a similar car. The AAA Plus ride home on the rollback was cheaper and easier than the drive from Auburn to San Jose. Just a thought. Good luck. That's all it was.
