I just replaced a 6A with a 6AL and the box whines as I increase speed. Is this normal? My 6A never did this. Also, if there is no chip in the box, what does that effect as far as rev limiter?

without a rpm chip you won't have a rev limiter.

I have never heard of a box whining. I have heard car stereos whine and that is usually caused by a bad ground. I would double check your connections and try it again. Also, if you have another 6al to swap in and see if it may be yours, it may be worth doing. As for not having a chip in, you will not have a rev limit set. The chip is what sets the limit otherwise, its a 6a.

For some reason some MSDs make a lot of noise. I can put mine into the passenger compartment while others would drive you crazy if you did.

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

I've got 2 6al boxes. Neither one of them make a sound.

If you can hear you MSD over the sound of your engine you need more ponies under the hood

I would tend to agree with you but the box is right under my dash. I don't know if the 6A made noise because it was under the hood so I thought I would move it inside because of possible heat issues so I have no idea if the 6A made noise..

I dunno about the whining sound but mine has been making a buzzing sound for 8 years. Its normal I guess...Mine is right above the center console in front of the heater. I had installed the RF Isolator just in case it bled over to the radio but it didnt do anything.

If its not annoying...just crank up your music louder

Maybe it is more of a buzzing sound. It's not annoying but just curious.
