I won't be making the trip this year, again. I'll be driving back from my honeymoon in Florida over the weekend. I did manage to talk the wife into going to Sunshine dragway for the local heads up race on Saturday. She kind of gave me a dirty look when I asked about stopping by Norwalk on the way home. Steve

Question.... This will be my first CC event and I'm not sure what to expect. We are planning on arriving around 8am Saturday. If I want to make the early morning time trials should I plan on being there earlier? Can I tech in the staging lanes? I am guessing a hotel is out of the question at this point and I'm guessing the main lot will be full. Should I head straight for the campground side, unload and get to the staging lanes? Sorry for newbie questions. I just want to get in as many runs as possible.
Thanks, Mike
Tech is done in the pits, they go spot to spot. As far as where to park you'll either be clear at the end on the paved surface or have to park on the other side in the grass...an electric hook up will be out of the question unless your there Thursday morning usually. Other then not having electric there really isn't a bad spot. 8am should be plenty early unless you have the whole house to unpack and set up, Haha. My only suggestion is bring warm clothes if you've never been to Norwalk before, lake air gets real cold at night.

WHERE'S THE ICE CREAM? It had a fire sale!
Summit Motorsports Park has long been nationally famous for its $1 a pound ice cream. Huge national events, record breaking crowds, a beautiful facility and what do the fans talk about? The $1 ice cream of course! Even the TV announcers for the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals spent a good part of the day discussing the unbelievably popular culinary item. Well, there is a problem! A couple of weeks ago the main concession stand on the pit side of the track caught fire and was totally destroyed. Today it’s an empty concrete pad waiting for the builders. Forget the hot dogs, the hamburgers and fries. They are easily served out of concession trailers for the time being. The Ice Cream stand was melted to the ground and that’s almost a national disaster.
Fear not kids both young and old, all is not lost. The ice cream delicacy has just been relocated. For the time being the $1 a pound ice cream will be served out of a space on the Summit Side of the track. If you are standing in the pits you just don’t realize how lucky you are. For now you get a pound of ice cream, your daily supply of carbs and calories and an exercise program all for the same price. Here’s your friendly Summit advisory: If you walked over from the pit side and are planning on taking a dozen or so containers back with you bring along some straws to drink your dessert when you finally make it back to the car.
This situation should correct itself within a vey short time. In the meantime grab your kid’s bib for the trip.

<<<<<<ALL IS TRUE>>>>> All is true when the line is long and no end in site for a good pit spot. All is true when they let you in you rush to your spot to that another Mopar just took your favorite spot. All is true when you get unloaded ready to go and the teck line is long and moving at a snails speed. All is true when you sit and stu over being late to time trails with you family and crew. All is true when we get back to the pits with a smile on our face and ready to race the Gamblers Race All is true when we go out in the first round mad as hell spending another $20 to go to second round. All is true when we keep going rounds and the car is running good but our driving needs to be improved. All is true when we win the race get our cash and drink our first beer at the MOPAR MAFIA Place. All is true when we look at the clock and it's a 1/4 to 2 and getting ready for Saturday round 2. All is true when you wake up with a headace and the sound of a MOPAR screaming down the pits warming up the rear. All is true as the day starts all over again with out a crew..... All is true my crew is my Family of MOPAR MAFIA BROTHERS AND SISTERS and thier family too.
