I do not have the original carb that would have came on my car. I don't know if they gave the original owner the option of choosing which carb he wanted on the motor. Here are the specs:

-1971 Plymouth Roadrunner
-383HP/4 speed
-Air Conditioning
-California car
-3.23 sure grip 8 3/4 rear
-Power Steering/Manual brakes

Trying to figure out whether it came with a carter AVS or a holley and what are the cfm ratings? The two things throwing me off is it being a california car and the 4 speed/AC combo. Any help is appreciated.

I've done some research and this is what I came up with from a 71' Superbee website:

Quote:

The last two digits of the assembly line part number, not the part number used in catalogs. This number will be used with reference of the engine, transmission, with or with out freash air hood, and with or with out AC.

30 = 383 4bbl Auto w/AC
32 = 440 4bbl 4spd
34 = 440 6pk 4spd w/Ramcharger
35 = 440 6pk Auto w/Ramcharger
42 = 383 4bbl Auto w/Ramcharger
48 = 383 4bbl 4spd
50 = 383 4bbl Auto w/Ramcharger
00 = 426 2 4bbl Auto w/Ramcharger

My best educated guess in my situation is that the factory would have built the engine according to the basic outlines for the drivetrain and simply added the AC later since it wasn't common to have both AC and a 4 speed. Anyone know what carb would have gone on the engine with the ID # 48?

And if it helps, the previous owner had put a carter AFB carb on and the factory choke linkage that mounts on the manifold mates right up with the afb carb.

48 is the last two digits in the carb part number which is 3512848. The list number on the carb airhorn is 4667A. Now is where it gets confusing, if you were to look in a 71 service manual they make no referance to a list 4667A carb. The service manual shows only a 6191A. I have never seen a 4667A but have seen the 6191A. Go figure. I own a 71 SuperBee with a 383 4-speed and have run into the same question. Keep in mind that this info is all for a 383 four speed NON fresh air. Oh and yes it is a Holley.

My roadrunner doesn't have the air grabber hood, so its not fresh air for sure. I found this other thread that gets into great detail about this same topic. Found it last night after spending hours searching:

https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...rt=all&vc=1

To some, the 4667 is the bigfoot of chrysler carbs. So I'm guessing a 4667 and a 6191 holley would both be correct?

I saw a pic of an original holley in the thread I posted and I had to laugh. In one of the boxes the previous owner gave me, it has the complete idle solenoid and wires from the original holley the car came with....but no carb of course. From what I read the idle solenoid is used only on 3 or 4 speed cars.
