I'm getting ready to install exhaust tips on my GTX. Being a Los Angeles car, it came without tips but the factory hangers are in place. How exactly do I attach the new tips with their "L" shaped flat brackets to the hangers, which also have flat "L" shaped brackets?
Do I use these Insulators? And should'nt the insulators have TWO slots in them instead of just one?
Thanks in advance!

I can get some pics later tonight, if nobody adds before then .....

but, ALL '69 GTXs had bright exhaust tips STANDARD. There was no noise reduction or other issues for them in CA. FYI - the only '69 Road Runner or GTX without chrome tips was the base coupe (RM21) without the Road Runner decor package (A87).

Thanks; I look forward to your pics!
My understanding on the tips is that they were not allowed in the Los Angeles basin, but were okay for all the rest of California.

Dan,
I looked at a 69 X a few years ago,(about 15 actually) that was a CA car, - turndown exhaust and standard dual snorkle air cleaner. It sure looked like original exhaust to me. And if I remember right it didn't have the tip style hangers

Thanks for the pics Dan, that is completely different from what I have. I will post a pic later today... I'm thinking my hangers supported PIPES... turned down plain pipes.

Alrighty; Got 'er figured out. My GTX has exhaust PIPE hangers, not exhaust TIP hangers. It came from the factory with turn-downs, hence my confusion on trying to attach tips to the existing hangers.
My car was sold in the city of Los Angeles, and produced at the Van Nuys plant.

I will order some TIP hangers today!
