Trying to find out, what 1972 hp 440 b-body exhaust manifolds look like, part numbers and if there were smog tube versions for CA cars with an air pump. There might even be a diffrent version for early 72 cars, but not sure. Any info would be great.

I had a set of 72's or 3's at one time that had the air tubes in them. They were a california only thing. I'd say thats what your going to need with a smog pump and going an OE Resto route.

car wasn't a ca car, but might have been optional on the model. Wasn't 100% sure if it was available only in CA, so just trying to narrow it down.

Parts List:

Remember Part and Casting numbers are not always the same, but you can see application differences.

thank you very much for that! I appreciate the info and pics.

By the look of the picture, the manifold looks identical to 1970-71 hp manifolds and even uses the same heat stove for the air cleaner.

since you have decent knowledge of the 72' models, maybe you know this question.

Is the rear swaybar on 8 3/4 the same as the one for the dana 60 for those years? Kinda wondered about that.

They're different... the Dana bar has a fairly big dip in the middle (about as wide as the gas tank) to clear the larger housing. 8 3/4 bars are straight.

No problem... finding one might be as hard as making one, though!

The driver side is different with that ridge between the heat stove bolts.
