No, using the AMD panels, the leaded seam will be in the "factory" location, no need to remove the drip rail,....here's a pic of some AMD full qtrs I installed on a customers car, everything lined up excellent, no surgery needed,...just like NOS skins, if not better

how did the rear side markers fit? I had heard that the recess was off and needed to be filled a bit on the first run of panel.? Did they correct that?

You will leave the old piece under the drip rail, then trim the new quarter to fit that area, then mig weld the new and old together at that seam. This means you will leave the drip rail alone completly. Use a cutoff wheel to slice the "C" pillar along the edge of the drip rail to separate the quarter from that area.
