Hey guys, just tore down a fairly fresh 360 to inspect, re-ring and put back together. When I took it apart, there was no gasket in between the oil pump and the main cap it bolts to, but the "How to rebuild small block mopar" book I have says that there is a gasket. So do I need a gasket or not? This is on a 72 360 motor.

Thanks

Butch

This is a long-standing argument, the factory didn't use a gasket but most aftermarket pumps include one in the box.

I'd leave it out.

do what ever you like and won't loose any sleep over. It won't matter one way or the other.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!
