They use a sealed ball bearing assembly that doesn't need a preload/end play adjustment or cleaning and packing with a good wheel bearing grease, Worth it - IMO - NO. The OEM tapered roller bearing is a superior bearing to the sealed ball bearing. After all servicing the axle bearings isn't something that you do every day. Maybe once in a cars life time. No big deal. http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/axle/12.html
Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks.
But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

Sorry guys...but my heads hurting!!
If tapered bearings are better - why does every advert for axles I see rave about "green bearings"?
Not sure if this will explain it better but here goes.
All cars came with a tapered bearing for the axles. It is similar to the front wheel bearings. You must adjust the preload on the bearings for them to work correctly.
Green bearings are a ball bearing style. The do not need to be adjusted. They are only 1 piece and do not have a bearing race as like the tapered bearing. They have become popular because many street guys like to swap rear ends in and out depending on highway driving or fun stoplighting.
I agree tapered are a better design, but that said I have greens in my car and so far have not had any trouble. I think both work just fine. Many friends have run greens for years. IF you plan on doing and "drifting" with it, i'd stick with tapered.

I think the Greens are used so much because if you buy a set of axels, they can only put Green bearings on them since the adjusters are unavailable. 7-1/4" axels used bearings similar to the Green bearings.
