The short comeings can be remidied by replaceing pretty much every part of the engine. Heads flow worse than a 360 head and bigger valves and porting are not gonna help much. The cam is obviously very puny, It has very low compression so it needs new pistons witch by the time you buy custom pistons you can buy off the shelf 440 pistons and a 440 block for the same dollars that will make more power. The only things I would re-use would be a crank, rods and mabey a few bolts Hard to address one critical area and see much gain on an engine that has that many short comeings for building HP. It can be built to make a lot of HP even with just 413 inches but it will cost more than makeing more power from a 440 would. It would all look the same from the outside when done too.

The same as you'd do with a ny other engine..cam,exhaust and so on.I don't know what the specs are on the 413 cam,but maybe something like a Comp Cams old hi energy or the stock 440 cam for starters...

In that case slide a 440 short block under it, that will give you another 50lbs TQ even if it was a cast crank motor home short block.

OK There is the problem you posted a question, on a race site that looked like you wanted a race motor. Now that we know what you are really after, you should get the answers you wanted.
You posted the question in the wrong section.

Unfortunately, there aren't any new cam cores for the 413 Industrial motors.
