No way would I go that far with a spacer... you would
be better off welding a new front hanger section on
EDIT
are you sure you have the right springs for the car
I never heard of anyone needing that much

I put around 3/8" spacers in front of my front hangers per your opinion mike and it moved the rear just like I wanted it to move.

Where are you trying to put them?
EDIT
Also if you go that far EITHER WAY you WILL need a
new drive shaft

I have 002/003 SS springs too. I have not set the pinion angle yet but my rear was too close to the front 1/4 and I hated that. Mike(Raff) suggested that I put spacers in front of the hangers,my buddy made me some aluminum spacer and it worked!!!! Moved my rear back and now my tire looks more even in the 1/4.

I thought you were trying to move the axle/tire rearward
so you would need to put a shim at the front spring
hanger... if you did this it would change the shackle
angle also

I made mine from 2 x 3 square tubing. Worked well, only I would not recommend using aftermarket hangers like those in the attached pic. Use the stock ones or weld the bolts to one side of the aftermarket hanger so it's stiff when bolted together, like a stock one.

Mike(earthmover)...My bad!!! I thought you were asking about the FRONT hangers, not the backs. I have same problem with mine. My shackles were facing forward but when I put my spacers in front of the front hangers,my shackles are now straight up and down. Now I have to put a 2"x2" block in front of my BACK hangers to help the angle of the shackles.
THEN I need to set my pinion angle.

WHAT THE FXXX IS THAT you must be from the south.

Actually the northeast, and the car picked up 2 tenths with that little change alone when the chassis rise increased.
Got anything useful to add to this thread? How about a picture of YOUR solution, eh?

With the increased rise of the chassis make sure your shocks are long enough; otherwise the chassis could do a 'bunny hop' when the shocks top out at the max of their extension travel. Mr Gasket used to sell shock extender brackets that effectively made the shocks a few inches longer, preventing them from topping out.

You need to get that shackle angle correct... should
be leaning forward(top) about 30*... if it points
to the rear it will lift the diff as soon as it goes
straight with the spring

Well I'm guessing I Would not get 2 tenths from that.

I would put the spring where it belongs if there is A tire clearance issue then stretch the 1/4.
If you don't want to do that move the rear end back on the perch and bush if needed to fit the pin on the spring. Or have the springs made with the pin moved back. shackle angel should be laid back in the stock location.

Lets not get some one killed hear

He isn't talking about moving the spring back for tire clearance, he's talking about changing the angle of the rear spring hanger (back spring hanger) to get more rise out of the chassis. Right now his is pointing straight down (12/6 o clock). Shimming the rear hanger would point the shackle towards the back of the car, letting it swing in a greater arc and getting more rise out the chassis.

And no, unless they leave the bolts out or loose, no one's gonna get killed by adding my 'southern' looking but yankee engineered rear spring hanger shim...

I'm from north of the mason dixon as well.
I did it to increase shackle angle. The effect on ride height was VERY minimal. The tires are still in the same place. No need to lengthen the driveshaft. 002, 003 here.
