The only time I used a pro type carb was when I had
my 1050 dom build up for E-85.... I went exactly the
same.... if it is the same flow I realy dont think you
will see a increase but alot of those guys up the flow
rate on them so thats not a true apples to apples...
of course that will depend on if you can tune a carb
in the first place.... and if it was properly tuned
for your set up

Not to hi-jack this thread but does putting on billet blocks and baseplates really help?? I have a 850dp with a pro-form body but stock blocks and plate....I was just wondering??

The baseplate would only provide a performance increase if (a) it has thinner shafts to improve airflow and / or (b) your standard baseplate is warped and causing sealing issues.

Assuming no leakage issues w/ the your original metering blocks, billet metering blocks would only be an improvement if the emulsion circuits are tuned better for your particular combination. One of the main benefits of most of the billet blocks is that you can make circuitry changes easier than standard cast blocks.

I have seen and heard of a lot of high dollar custom carbs not work as well as the same size new Holleys out of the box on engine dynno testing Mike, there are some very good custom carb builders out there but not all of them are

From what I hear they are hit and miss from all the companys, some guys claim "so and so" built my carb and it picked up two tenths and drivability was way better while some other guy lost two tenths from the same builder and drivability now sucks. I have heard so many stories from both sides of the fence I don't know what to beleive. I prefer metering rods any how

I have an 830HP double pumper I am going to try on my 414 stroker but it will probably end up in the parts for sale section. I love the holley look but I can never get one to work great, only so-so at best (I did have one 770 street avenger on a 318 that ran great but sucked gas). I am going to try this one for a while and if it don't work it will get replaced by a T.Q. I know how to make them run great
