State of Confusion
Its been several years since I have laid out a performance exhaust. I don't recall what the "ideal" location of the H crossover is.

I want to say 18" seems to be stuck in my mind.

I say "ideal" because I am working on a 4x4 RC and there is a transfer case to work around. So I may have to get farther back than 18".

Also how close to the mufflers can/should the H be? Can I exit directly from my crossover to the mufflers?

I'm going to be running my long length PowerSticks so theres not really much of a "muffler" per se.

I'd say 18" up to 24" from the manifold or collector flange would be ideal, I have my chambered "mufflers" about 10" after the H pipe crossover,...I'm running the 2.5X30" tubes,.....nice sounding/performing system, good back pressure for a "straight thru" system, high RPM de-acceleration are just like in a fully muffled car, no rap/backfire like you would have with glasspacks

My son's 89 RC had the "heavyduty" emissions pkg (I say had because someone finished therue dual config and it no longer has cats;) originally theres an H pipe (still there) into 2 cats and I dont remember if it then goes single or if it goes thru dual muffs and then into a single tailpipe; I've seen the config listed in the manual but this thing was modded before I got it;
but it does still have the factory "H" pipe.
this is an original Cali truck.

...i just finished reading the mopar performance book and it says the "h" should be 12 to 18" behind the collector.
this is for noise control but some say it increases performance?
