Looking for a little help from the experts.

I have seen 69 Roadrunners with AC with a blue painted engine and with an orange painted engine.

I have heard the cars equipped with AC received the Blue painted engine with less horse power from the factory.

Whats the real deal.
Thanks for any help.

Matt

AC Roadrunners did indeed have the turquoise instead of orange in '69. Different carb, and IIRC the 330-horse cam. Otherwise the same as the 335-horse non-AC RR 383. I think the purpose was a smoother idle speed with AC on.

Correct and so did the '69 383 Super Bee with A/C here's the '69 Super Bee survivor with the 899 A/C engine code;

I believe the "turquois" 383 Road Runners & Super Bees will all be automatics with A/C ...
4-speeds with A/C were still "orange".

Dan, four speed A/C RR/Bees got the turquoise 897 engine.

My '69 RR with A/C was a 4-speed; turquoise motor. Original, 1-owner unmolested car.

Haven't seen the code written on that area of the valve cover before (I'm referring to the Super Bee); mine that were visible were written on the front of the valve cover. That's an interesting pic.

Fairly common to see them on top of the valve cover.

Amazing how an unchallenged lie can become the absolute truth.
