does anybody know if a cross ram intake for a 440 will fit it if the motor has motor home heads? they are extra tall and i want to ask before buying one.

AFAIK the motor home heads will bolt up the same intake as any other 440.

unless you are buying the expensive A+A 440 crossram most all crossrams are max wedge port size and while they will bolt on a non max wedge head they will have a huge mismatch. Now that aside are these motor home heads the industrial type that had it's own intake , exhaust and the weird waterpump setup , if so NOTHING made for a passenger car will bolt to them .

its got the high rise water pump and the heads are maybe 1-2 inches taller than standard. its an industrial, i think.

Try it and post some pictures. Love to see what it makes on the dyno.

That head takes a special intake , a crossram will not bolt to them , they are no good to you for what you want to do , I assume put it in a car ???

I would think it would work. If it's a real max wedge intake you will have some nasty port match problems. I dropped a 413 industrail engine into a 93 pick up. I elected to swap heads for a set of closed chamber 516 to up the compression, stock 413 compression is 7.3:1. The industrail 4 barrel intake bolted right on with zero problems. You might have a issue with the hight of the valve covers hitting the bottom of the cross ram. It will look cool, but I think the power band of the engine and the manifold won't like each other.

thought about it. its a low torque engine though. thinking truck. funny... the intake manifold gasket from a regular kit is perfect. the kit is to a 413, the valve covers are to a 400, and the exhaust manifolds are 361. weird, huh?

When you talk about the gaskets, you loose me. Bigblock wedge gasket sets are the same, with the exception of the intake gasket. Does your 413 have a front sump deep oil pan? It should have a 3 bolt cam, double roller timing chain. The industrail engines use a differant water pump, and most gasket kits come with the extra gaskets. I'd like to know what the differance between a 413 and a 400 valve cover gasket is? Same with the exhaust gaskets. I've found that the industrail head, intake, and exhaust casting numbers are not in galens white books, maybe the updated books have them. Yes the intake manifold is a specail unit, it is very low profile, low RPM piece.

Ok , that I did not know, from pics of the intakes I have seen they APPEARED different , but as you said if the heads are TALLER by a couple inches the crossram is going to hit the valve covers .

I've got a pair of the industrail heads out in the garage. I'll dig them out and measure them. I've got a drinking buddy who has a cross ram on a 440, I'll go over and take a few measurements on it. Give me a couple of days, my day job has been nuts lately. I had a old RVI motorhome that had a 413 in it, I put a 6-pack on it. That woke it up.

a six pak would be nice, and its cheaper. ill do some research. the measurements would be appreciated though. i like to keep my options open.

you may know better than i do whether this is an industrial or not. note: the water pump is not too visible because of the fan. i'll try to find a pic without the fan.

Yes that's an industrial setup. I really doubt you'll get a MAX WEDGE style cross ram on it, maybe the inline ebrock dual inline 4bbl's would be a better choice, and again cheaper

New water pump housings are a dime a dozen. If you really want a crossram don't let the water pump stand in your way.

very clever dinner. appetizing food fit neatly into interesting round pie.
