Are you sure that the relay is what is going out. Have you cleaned the battery posts and cable clamps and made sure that they are clean and tight. If they are corroded the result will a lot of the time be a clicking of the starter. Same if the battery itself is marginal or is not receiving a good charge from the alternator.
It could be that changing the relay is temporarily 'fixing' the problem by your juggling connections.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

Yeah i am positive it is the relay. It did it to me last week and i replaced it and it started fine. went to autozone and when i got back in the car it wouldnt do anything no click or anything. same thing it did last time. i jumped the relay and it fired right up. new battery, new cables everything seems good. im new at all this type of stuff and confused on what is going on.

Next time it happens try starting the car in neutral. It sounds like your shift linkage is a llttle out of adjustment not letting the neutral saftey switch to work.

If your buying them from Auto Zone, thats probably your problem. I have had countless bad experiences with AZ's starters, and parts, they aren't worth a flip!

Are you getting the one for the 4 speed or the automatic. There is a difference and sometimes the parts store guys don't look close enough.
