Went and picked up some parts last night that i purchased locally, and in the stash is a front sway bar that i need help identifying what i have. It measures .875 thousandths of an inch in diameter, and is 43 1/2 inches in length, center to center. It's either a 66-69 B body bar, or a 67-72 A body bar. Can anyone confirm, and tell me what i have. A body, or B body. Thank's a lot. Jim V.

A photo sure would help but here is a pic of a 72 B Body car with Dana..

A boat, a GMC truck, some Craftsman Tools, LOTS of Zombie Protection, and a few Goldfish..
If you love someone set them free.. If they come back it means nobody else wanted them either..!!

I was hopeing that someone would know the diameters of an A body bar, and a B body bar, to identify them that way.
most of us know them by vision, we rearely carry tape measures around when checking parts. Pics would go a long ways to identify it.

They look very close by eye.
The B-body is slightly wider and slightly thicker. Don't have number written down. I faintly remember maybe one is 15/16 and one if 7/8 thick. So the B-body would be the thicker one.
I think if you if check the Energy Suspension website for the special factory replacement poly bushings, they will list what diameter goes with what body style.
I'll check to see if I have a 68 A-body sway bar handy.

Jim, I just measured my big block A-body sway bar and came up with 44" between the end link holes (center to center). There will be some variation, so that sounds like an a-body bar.
Just a WAG, but I'd guess he got that bar from the same guy he just won those A-body disc calipers on E-bay from. Just a WAG though.

Your good. Ya, the guy had a stash of some other parts, that he asked me if i might be interested in anything else. Other things more than the A body disc brake stuff that i bought. By your, and Jim Lusk's description i'm sure it's an A body sway bar. Thank's a lot for replying guys. I think i'v only ever had one of these A body sway bars, so i couldn't tell by eyeballing it. Will need to replace one of the bushings, so i will be looking at the Energy Suspension site.

FWIW, the old DC Chassis book says that stock A-Body sway bars are all .88 " diameter and B (Belvedere/Coronet/Charger) and E(70-74) are all .875 ", except for the .94 " AAR/TA. DC sold a bunch of different diameter ones, though. Know I had a chart somewhere with all the dimensions, but no idea where it is.
And the DC book would be WRONG. For at least 68 and 69 (not sure about 67) there was a different, larger diameter big block sway bar. We have TWO and they are definitely larger than the bar in my GTS.

Probably. Didn't look right, which is why I said "FWIW." I know I've seen a complete chart somewhere (including C bodies), but I can't find it. Maybe the DC book just listed standard, not HD sway bars?

Scratch using the Energy Suspension application listing as a guide. They show both cars with 15/16 and 7/8 bushings for B and A bodies.
They don't know.
