Looking at installing one or the other on my 67 cuda bracket car. Which is better. So far I,m thinking 4 link as it gives you a little more tuning then ladder bars. Also what is good affordable shock for it, thanks Tim

How much weight, HP and tire size are you running now, also how fast is the car now and are you planning on any upgrades to the motor, trans and converter soon?

How heavy is the car? I guess Im a little old fashioned, but I think ladder bars on the heavier cars that have been back halfed is the way to go.. They are easier to install, cheaper and easier to adjust. Sure 4 links have there place. But I think personally they are better suited om lighter tube chassis type cars

610 on the dyno cab,3000 pounds with driver, 29 by 12 good years, and runs 10.22,s there about. No planned up grades except for suspension. Currently using caltracs with a moser 9 inch unit.

If I was you I would use a good brand of ladder bars with a good set of double adjustable coil overs and a diagonal link for the rear suspension I recently change my rear coil over shocks, I had a set of single adjustable Strange with 170 lb springs and went to a set of double adjsutable Strange with 150 lbs springs, the car is better now

4-link... with the 4 link you can adjust the rise of the back of the car.... a ladder bar just want to lift the back... but with a 4 link you take up more space inside the car at the back... ladder bar uses up less space(in the car)... so its a trade off but if its a race car..... 4 link Also... if I put a 4-link in a customers car I tell them that I want to put a anti roll bar on .... I feel that the anti roll is mandatory on a 4-link

If you are a dedicated bracket racer and will never go faster than 10.0, You can go ladder bars if you like because you can make them work very well in that ET range, with double adjustable shocks. One thing to remember though, is a ladder bar car has less value if you ever sell. If you have the itch to go faster, it is much better to get the suspension that will work well at any ET. That is a four link. I have been successful running eights with ladder bars, but am hindered by not being able to move the instant center forward where I want it. I could have used that adjust ability when I first ran the car in the tens. One place I wasted money was shocks. I wound up getting rid of the front single adjustable coil overs I had, the rear brackets and cheap three way shocks on the rear and wound up spending the money to buy good double adjustable shocks for all four corners. So if at all possible, at least get double adjustable s for the back, and if you can the front as well. You won't regret it.

good info guys, I like gregsdart theory as that is probraly where I,m at. Too far away from an nhra track to bother going in the 9,s, meaning I don,t go enough. Also resale down the road is a very good thought, and the 2 way adjustables on all 4 corners are a must. Looks like spend the money and get a 4 link and get it done. I,m looking at an alston chassis works set up. Not going to do it for a month or so. I should be able to sell my caltracs, rims and tires and axles very easily and recoupe some cost. At a one only quarter mile here this year on the island at an airport we did manage to win the 50/50 so the wifey is giving me half of the 2700. bucks so all is good. Thanks for info guys, Tim
