I noticed my 383 had a popping noise in the exhaust collectors, sounded like a shot gun. It did not produce a flame out the exhaust collector like it was lean, but to me sounded strange. I have a holley 1000 jetted front 82 /35 pv and rear 93. I changed the collectors to hooker- cone inside the collector type. The total collector length is 18 inches.

I suspect an air leak in one of the tubes before the collector.

Thank you for the replys. I do have a mis-mash where the collector meets the tubes!
