Would you consider the St. Louis area at all? There is one guy in particular about 30 minutes west of downtown that is very meticulous and has boat loads of fabrication skills.
Mike Larabell @ M&B Hot Rods. He works out of his home shop off of Hwy 109 and Hwy 44. He does not advertise...just works off of referrals and word of mouth. I don't have his business card on me, but should have it at home.
He cut his teeth at Jerry Haas and Bickel's shops if I remember correctly. An excellent welder to boot.
He does chassis tuning for a lot of the 10" tire guys and can handle just about anything from subframe connectors to Pro-Mod style chassis fabrication. He will most likely not mention it, but he has excellent body work and paint skills as well.
I believe he usually has a backlog, but can squeak in small jobs like spring relocation between the larger projects.
