Head pipes to early HP manifolds. I'm not familiar with the TTI or Accurate products. Do their products still neck down on the driver side to the smaller diameter for the first 2 feet or so (like OEM), or does newer technology make it possible to keep the full size pipe and ding it for torsion bar clearance? With a mini starter, it looks like you could keep the head pipe full size all the way through now?? Not sure how tight of a radius a mandrel can bend, and how close to the end/flange?

I ordered a TTI a couple of years ago an the head pipes were full size. I was using a orignal starter with the system an while it did work, a mini starter would have been much easier when it came time to work on it.

With the orignal starter the head pipe would have to be removed to drop the starter down. No dinging was required when I installed my system on a 71 Duster.

I have Accurate pipes on my GTS. The L side headpipe is a 2 piece pipe. The front is a smaller diameter then the rear pipe and mates to the rear portion with a clamp.

I have the TTI 2 1/2" system on my '69 small 340 and it is 2 1/2" all the way to the manifold. No dent or pinch is needed and it has lots of clearance.

There is a different head pipe on the driver's side for manual trans cars. While it is 2 1/2" it has a dent to clear the torsion bar because it is routed completely differently. Here is a picture of the manual trans pipe:

I have an Accurate Ltd. system on my 340 GTS. Tom built my system in 2000. The head pipe is one piece 2 1/2" pipe. Yes, it's a tight fit thru there.
