is there a way to test voltage limiter for the gauges and if so how would u do it..and whats its purpose..thanks

Your talking the one for the gauges? if you have ever noticed all your gauges spike for a second ditch it and get a solid state. Maybe someone else can help???

It's purpose is to drop 12v to 5v so you don't smoke the gauges. It supplies the reduced voltage to the windings in the gauges that become magnetized and make the needle move. The windings are too light to carry 12v. The grounded sending units create differing resistence to the gauges controling the ammount of magnetic force that moves the needles. If you look at the terminal side you will see Ign which is 12v in, a ground to the case and a third terminal which is output. If you apply 12v to the Ing and ground the case you should get a pulsing power out on the third terminal which will average to 5v. It works somewhat like a turn signal flasher.

so i understand this a little clearer, are you sayin this is for all the gauges or just the fuel gauge
