If you just want to fix it you can tack weld it with
5 or 6 good tacks

I never had one rust out and I'm in the biggest salt
state there is... might have been under size some or
if it was a replacement someone could have stripped
it putting it in.... JMO

Thanks for the replies. This car has never seen salt even though I'm in Ohio. It looked like it had rocked around in there for a while and slightly egg shapped the whole. It may have been because I took out the upper snubbers trying to get more travel in the front end. It bangs around quite a bit being a stick-shift car (it does a little dinky wheelie then does it again when I hit second). I cut then snubbers in half and am going to re-install them.

Anyway, I stuck a $14.00 Autozone ball joint in there and tacked it in the best I could. Should hold me till this winter, I may look at Bondo Bob's upper and lower control arms and have the k-frame lightened.

Thanks again

Mike

Maybe in the past someone pressed the ball joint in, instead of threading it in. I know, that would have to be a good press!
I worked with a guy who has had a bunch of old mopars that argued with me about upper ball joints pressing in. I had to show him a ball joint socket and he finally looked it up in a manual. A little late after he pressed them in for many years.

I have seen them get overtightened and stripped out.
