my tranny has developed a leak at the reverse detent ball plug, the big one not the cap bolt. can i back that out enough to put thread sealer on it with out taking the tranny apart?....thanks

You need to remove the cap first and remove the spring and ball. If not the ball falls in the trans and your going fishing.

Dan...can i get the spring and ball out when i take the plug out? the ball won't drop in the transmission when i release the spring pressure?

The ball won't fall out when you remove the cap. Use a mag to get the ball out of the hsg once you remove the spring.
