my bodyman just got through welding my quarters on and i had heard of using usc's all metal filler for its corrosion resistance but the evercoat metal to metal sounds easier to work with. what are your experiences? reccomendations? thanks

I have used all metal before with good results. Just make sure you add enough hardner. I didnt the last time I used it and had to scrape it off and start over.

USC makes good stuff but I have not used the product your speaking about. Metal 2 Metal is a crapshot. I have used it with good results years ago, but the last couple of cans we ordered were VERY thick and hard to mix the liquid hardener in correctly.

If you are just looking for a good durable filler for the sectioned area, I use Evercoat Fibertech. It's similar to Kitty Hair or Marglas, but is super easy to use and hardens like concrete with regular creme hardener. Cleaning up the area to be filled is probably the most important step, no matter what you use. You can also etch prime the area before you fill for added durability. Don't take my word as gospel as everyone has their own preference to do things. But in 38 years, I haven't had anything fall out yet.

It doesnt change color when you add hardner so its difficult to see when its completly mixed and it hardens real fast I have had the same problem but will use it on welded areas then finish with rage

that is where we are looking at using it, in the sectioned area, where the pcs are welded together, looking for something to waterproof the weld area then bondo over that.

Wouldn't epoxy primer seal the weld area? Than you could use what ever body filler you prefer.

my body man used it to shave the gas door, antinna, trim holes, small rust holes

he said it has to be bare metal at the patch area(sand blasted it)

works well, wont fall out, wont rust,ez to use/sand/work..then skim coat with filler

Find someone who can lead it. Factory did it for a reason and it won't crack in a few years. I lead all body work. If they mig welded it make sure it's only spot welded those cars need to flex. Lead will flex fillers like all metal and ever coat does not. Read the label on the can can only be so thick if you prime and not let solvents escape it will not last.

I use short strand fiberglass on welded areas. I used the metal to metal and it seems to crack too easy.

All metal or metal to metal are both good products. I use them both for weld spots and patch panels.
