I bought a set of W type Hoosiers for my Duster in the hope of having some wrinkle and squat on the rear and then getting up on the tire quicker.

In the only picture I saw from the track photographer that was useful to me for tuning purposes, they were not wrinkled @ 10 lbs pressure.

My question is: Do they tend to limber up after a few passes?

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

Car weighs 3180 w/driver. Old 60's were standard 1.64 w a best 1.62 with other tires which were about 29 3/4 tall. The new tires are 30 1/4 tall.

Best 60 last t&t was 1.70 , but some might be my lack of seat time this year. Also 92* heat? Hoping to make 1.5? 60's.

This is a nose heavy back half car. Lost some front end travel raising the front level w/ back, but I will be working on that today.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

What did it run? Did it spin? You need to hit the W's hard to wad them up, They are a stiff sidewall tire set up for a LOT of power.

Another thing is you added a bunch of rotating weight. If it hooked with the smaller tires there is no need to spin all that extra weight with the w's. It takes torque to get them moving. The more weight, the more power needed for the same rate of acceleration.

Alot of times you have to hit the Ws with more power
or a harder hit to get them to plant hard

I didn't feel it spin. And as far as weight goes, the tires are 1 lb heavier than the old ones, but I took the tubes out, so the whole rotating mass is less. I don't like admitting it, but I'm thinking I could have lost some low rpm torque with my home porting job. I've gained .2 in ET, but the 60's are ugly. I'm hoping increased front end rise will help mash them the slicks down some. I might try higher launch rpm. Will these tires limber up some? Only 3 passes so far.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

Thanks, I'm gonna try that. There was some power loss due to 92 deg temps. But to make matters worse, they felt the need to screw around at the track. I still remember the look on the track employee's face as he looked up at the tower

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.
