Moparnut426 OP I Live Here Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 12,013 Finally a HUSKER again	I got around to checking my oil psi, and making sure all rockers got god oil too them. I have a snap on drill, and on high its got 80 psi cold. On low its got 73 psi cold with Brad Penn 20w50. My buddy thinks its too much. I have solid roller, and harland sharps. Stroker so RPM isnt gonna be over 7200. At least I dont think Ill ever need to go there. Whats your thoughts? KAsey

MR_P_BODY Master Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 52,972 Romeo MI	I was priming my W-2 today and with a 1/2 air drill I was getting 40 psi(this air drill doesnt turn real fast but has torque) and when I would turn the crank over and the cam lined up for the rocker oiling it would drop to 30 psi... last time I ran this engine(as is) it had 70+ psi at rev I think your going to have a problem with way to much pressure.... JMO

I can run a 10w30 or 10w40 oil too. This is with a pretty fast high torque 1/2" snap on drill. Its got nuts for sure. I can pull the pan and "adjust" it, but man I really dont want to break this seal, Its sealed up REALLY nice. Kasey

And that is with the engine spinning by hand with a long 1/2 " ratchet. I did pause at the rocker oiling hole, and made sure al rockers has good oil, and it was a little less there. Its a precision blueprinted pump, and I didnt mess with it, its how they sent it too me. Kasey

That's not a very accurate test of oil pressure. Gotta get it up to temp and get some time on it before the oil pressure lines out. You will almost always see a 10+ psi drop from a brand spankin new just fired motor to one with a 1000 miles or so on it. I sure woulbn't worry about it at this point in time. Fastest 300

Moparnut426 OP I Live Here Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 12,013 Finally a HUSKER again	Im happy that I had good oil flow at the rocker arms. it was flowing nicely out of the push rod oil hole, and I could see the lifters through the distributor hole, and they were oiling really good. Im getting really excited now. Im thinking of calling ARP and ordering some 3/8 studs for the rocker arms. They make me feel better running them.

I had to make 3/8 adapters for my heads and that pushed me headers out a bit and I dont know if a K&N filter will fit. Ill buy one and check. I know the Napa GOld filters have a thick case also. But I too feel that this is not much of an indicator of the pressure in the actual running engine with hot oil. Of course if I had to "go like hell" and only Got 30 PSI I would be worried. B G Racing master Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 9,910 Eighty Four, PA	80 PSI is normal for priming as all moving parts in the engine are static and no loss of pressure will be caused by dumping by the moving parts.With 80psi cold you usually see 40/50psi at hot idle and 70/80 psi at higher rpms hot if that is the pumps max setting.With most pumps we see max pump pressure cold at higher rpms around 90/100 and settle down when warmed up to 70/80 psi.
