Thanks for the heads up on this piece of information. I will definitely look into this area of detail. I have is a posi rear in this car. Do you (or any one else involved with this thread) know why they would put the metal tag on the Dana style rear end with posi but not the 8 & 3/4 with posi? I thought the tag was used to let the person filling the rear (with oil) know that the posi oil additive was required.

Starting in 1969, with the introduction of the Borg Warner Spin resistant differential, the limited slip lube requirement was supposed to be designated with a dalb of paint. Unfortunatley, I can't remember the placement or color. Contact info

No sure grip tag, even though it definitely has a sure grip (Track Pak car). Rear appears to have never been apart. There is an orange paint daub on the filler nut, and a large amount of pink paint on the top of the pumpkin. Could the pink be the code for a sure grip?????

We have already "fixed" the error and left the colors just as we found them. I originally thought that the tag might have been removed sometime in the past 38 years. I am beginning to believe that the blue marking I found on the casting might be the color that designated the limited slip setup.
