i hear dave isn't to computer savy , he has one of his guys check stuff for him ...
in all honesty i doubt him coming here would do anything but make a bad situation worse . any remeber when chris herman took up for frank mitchell
what really gets me is dave cut off his nose to spite his face . i had no problem with him and his cams made some damm good power , planned on buying a ball broach and some other stuff and more cam in the future .
hindsight being 20/20 , if harold had not gone out of business this thread wouldn't exist as he was going to give me a few cams to try out ... and i should have been a little less subtle when i first contacted scott brown ....
never mind he kicked the guy that could have the on any hughes sux threads
running up my post count some more .

I sat in the background(except for bringing the block to FL) during the EM, but spoke with JohnRR on almost a daily basis, and I can't recall John saying one bad thing about Hughes(hard to believe huh?) Hughes has obviously no business acumen. For the amount of money he put into EM it appears Hughes will not get a return on it.... You will find his new book "All I know about Everything" on the store shelves very soon. Inside you will find 100 empty pages..... Also it appears Hughes forget the old saying" He who digs a grave for someone else, might fall in themselves"......

First off let me say that his words were uncalled for and deserve us being PO'd.
But... You guys have now gone 180 from where you all stood a year+ ago when I was asking about cams. I was told by many of you to buy a Hughes cam because it was designed for a BB Mopar engine and that the Comp cam I was using was nothing more than a Chev design.
Now you are saying that Comp Cams will/could make more horsepower than a Hughes?
I really do take to heart the input I get from you guys so please don't make a flip flop decision based on someone's big mouth and tell me his product is no longer as good or better than the Comp cams.

This post wasn't about cam technology! It was about a not-so-thinly veiled insult directed at Moparts Engine Masters team and Moparts members. I'm not hearing "don't buy Hughes" due to technology, but "support those that support you". And Hughes has chosen to demean and insult us rather than support us.

Hey JohnRR, you wouldn't by any chance be needing a DRIVER for that '69 Dart, wouldya? Maybe I never finished the EM thread ... I always wondered what happened with that motor...I sorta pictured it in a big white room, on a pedestal with a sort of self-induced perpetual glow... Am I close on the storage vision??? That post from Dave's site is desperate and sad. He missed a chance to hook up with a great team in the beginning stages...make him regret it guys.

Shared my Hughes experience before, but thought I'd share it again as it fits well in this thread... My 496" with 1.6 ratio Hughes rockers killed a Hughes 4449 hydraulic on break-in (probably the one Lightstream refers to earlier in this thread, as it had 11-12 lobes wiped - If so, Dave's excuses are total nonsense). Dave blamed builder, builder blamed Hughes. No warranty by Hughes. No more Hughes stuff for me. After disassembly and more $$$ (bearings, oil pump, etc.), the same builder Hughes blamed installed a Comp Cams 292H with the 1.6 rockers with no break-in problems, and it survived 10 successful subsequent dyno pulls. HP/Torque peaked too soon. Due to schedules etc., another builder installed a Comp Cams 305H with no problems before the 496 went in the Charger. 7100 miles of daily driven fun later it is still running great. Hughes still owes me $80.00 for the deposit I made on the pushrod and dummy lifter I mailed to them along with their flat cam and trashed lifters. Am I bashing Hughes for stating the facts of my dealings with them and their product? The 440 in my '69 GTX project has the new XE275HL Comp Cams hydraulic, one of the "High Lift" series camshafts designed with faster ramps and for the .904" Mopar lifter. Also Cuda440 on the board is running the Comp Cams XE295HL hydraulic in his 496 RB stroker, and was pleased with the power it made on the dyno.
