I'm interested in a hughes HTL series Flat Solid cam for my new 512 project. The cam I'm looking at is the 6872. Lift @ my 1.6 is .651 and .661
Duration @ 50 is 268 and 272. Any one run this cam on the strip? Hughes claims it's a maximun profile .904 cam. I wonder how it is on valve train parts?

Thanks for the reply 493 Dart. Hughes says this cam series has a wide power band 3200-7100. Did you find this to be the case. Would you share info about your set up? or PM me if you like.
Thanks again

i have run that very cam. easy on parts if broken in correctly. also, keep plenty of zinc in the oil. currently, i have one of his cams with eddy heads it has run some 5.91's 1/8 mi. the one we have now is one of his bigger cams.

Its a mean cam--i dont know how high it will pull as Im setup for lower rpm this year. i cant get good weather or the car always has a gremlin the past 2 months....so i still dont know its potential.
Follow Hughes break-in procedure for sure.

I use Brad Penn oil with some Hughes additive

493 , 11.5:1 with standard port eddy Rpm heads
1.5 Harlands
Isky 8005-A springs , 4K converter
Ive been shifting around 5800 , i know that cam will pull much higher..its pulling through the 1/4

In a perfect world I will get to a track for Test-n-tune and it will be great weather and my bugs will be worked out--

the car definitely has 10.30's in it.
