Does anyone know if the early 73 Challengers had an engine ground from the back passengers cylinder head to firewall? I thought I remembered there being one but I can't figure out where it mounts to the firewall.

The later built cars have a ground strap that bolts to the firewall just to the left of the voltage regulator. Here is a pic of that setup.

My car doesn't have that hole drilled in the firewall. I've looked back at all my old pics and don't see any strap back there. Someone on Cuda/Challenger.com looked at his 73 Cuda which was build around the same time as my car. He said there is no strap on the back of the engine.

Looked at my September build 73. Don't see any hole for a ground strap.

So are you saying that the only ground wire is off of the front drivers side head? I wonder if 72's are the same way? The ICCA fastener guide shows 73-74 as having a ground strap in the back. The factory must have added one after September 72. Thanks for looking.

The very early 73's don't seem to have the hole in the firewall for the rear ground strap that other 73's do. The 74 should have one in the same possition as the picture I posted.

My cars SBD is 927.

73 E bodies did not have a ground strap. Just the negative battery ground on the driver's side front of cylinder head.

Thank you.

At some point after September 72, they started putting them on though.
