While trying to remove the front (feed?) cooler fitting on my 727 it decided to break off on me so now I've got part of it still stuck in the transmission case.

Before I go sticking an easy out in this thing I just want to know what exactly is behind that cooler? Anything that can get damaged?

Also anybody have any tips for getting it out? It was an alumnium -6AN to 1/8npt adapter fitting that broke.

just use a square ez out on it,nothing behind it your gonna hit with the ez out

shouldnt be that big a deal..under the car on the front one can be a little cramped though

but not to hard to back out

Well unfortunately I tried just that with the square ez out and it snapped off.

I was able to get out the extractor but I'm debating on what my next step should be. I'm thinking the chances of me getting this thing out as a whole is not looking to good, theres not much left for anything to bite on to.

I could try using a left handed drill bit but thats a coin flip. The other option I can think of is just drilling it out and using a heli-coil thread insert. I'm just concerned about the shavings itll leave, especially since I cant use a magnet since its aluminum.

If I were to do this then drop the the valve body and use air pressure to the "to cooler" port on the case to blow out the debris I should be good right?

Ez-outs are usually pretty hard, too hard to drill out with a normal drill bit.

The threads in the case are 1/8"-27 NPT.

I was able to get the fitting out. I had to drill it out some more and was able to squeeze the next size extractor in there and it finally broke loose, thanks guys

How did you get the chips from drilling out? Is that passage direct to the valve body or to the front pump ? If it's from the front pump I would put a hose on it into a drain pan and start the engine and let it pump out a qt. or so so you don't send the debris into the cooler and eventually your rear support.

I found a picture in my service manual that showed a picture of which port went where. Removed the valve body and blew some air through it so it blew the debris out the cooler line port.

Good idea I had definitely planned on running a little bit of fluid with the line disconnected when I start it back up in case I missed anything.
