Hey guys, just pre-oiled my '73 360 motor in my 69 dart, just a couple of questions... i preoiled for about 2 minutes total (had to stop to fix a leak, then continued) and i didnt see any oil coming out around the valvetrain or the top end of the motor at all... i did hear the lifters pump up though... im using crane gold rockers if that makes a difference... also... assuming that i did pre-oil correctly, how long do i have to get the motor running before i should pre-oil again? or once its done, it is done?... thanks!...

Where you sure to rotate the crank as you primed it? You want to make sure you do that, so you get oil up to all the passages

Also, once you start it, no need to prime it again...you preoil it to make sure you have oil everywhere (top end too actually) before the first fire up.

Ill make sure to do it again while turning the crank...

my question was that if i pre-oiled it now... do i have to get it started within a certain time frame (because i have other loose ends to tie up before starting)... or once i pre-oil it will stay pre-oiled until i start it up?...

I would pre-oil it again right before start up.

The rocker arm oiling is "timed" via two holes in the cam shaft that are only lined up during a certain angle during engine rotation. So you must slowly rotate the crank while you are priming. Once the holes in the cam are lined up with the holes in the engine block the oil will go up to the rocker shaft.

I spin the engine with a remote starter switch while spinning the primer shaft with a drill.
