...what should the resistance of an oil filled coil be?
i have 2,1 is .6 Ohms and the other is 1.6 ohms.
also should the negative side of your coil read "zero" resistance to ground?
(chasing an electrical gremlin)
...tx guys

""what should the resistance of an oil filled coil be""

If you know the manufacurer and the part number, I would suggest to type that in on the Summit web sight. If they carry it, they will show you all of the specs including primary and secondary resistance ratings.

Note: I was told from a Mallory Engineer, that if the primary resistance is more than 1.25ohms, then a ballast is not required. This might help you determine which of the two coils you may need to use depending on what type of ignition box the manufacturer designed the coil for. I have found that if you need a coil for a non ballast application, the different manufacturers still design their coils for certain types of ignition boxes. Each coil should specify if a ballast is required and what type of ignition box should be used.
