My body guy has primed my cuda in DP90 epoxy primer which is black.

What Dupont product gets painted over the dp90 that is gray that I see everyone's projects covered with before the color coat?

What should be sprayed over the primer to make a In Violet cuda (the original color) again, sticking with Dupont?

Al

If your talking about the "dip gray primer" look, you can get it buy mixing gray/green or gray/black DP to get the OEM look. I think its something in the 3/1 or 4/1 mix range. One of the plants used a darker color, but since your car is probably from Hamtramic, its probably gray.

You could also use Resto Ricks formula.

next coat of paint on top of DP90 should be a 2K primer/ filler, then sealer on top of that after many hours of block sanding.

I dont spray DUPont normally, so no part numbers..

I am talking about the gray dip from the factory.

Is it correct to assume that the color of the primer under the basecoat will affect the final look of the paint?

the color of the under coat primer, next to the metal shouldn't change the color.
the product that will change the color is the sealer coat you spray on before the top color.
i would check with the person spraying the color to determine what color you should use as sealer.

on another note. you shouldn't using PPG primer under a DuPont system.
i know i will be flamed by many saying they cross product materials without problems. but for maximim performance of the paint, and the ability to warranty it. you should use the same product brand from primer to top coat.

perception is 90% of reality

I spoke with him and he will be using all PPG products.

Thanks for the replies. After speaking with him he had all the answers except for a paint code...
