No hand hone can get it smooth enough. It's not a big deal.. The moly will just get scraped off and the rings will seat like normal rings. If the block was a running engine, I use green scotchbrite over the square stone flex-hone I have. Use WD40 for cutting oil, and dont go tto crazy. It's enough to take off the glaze but not to scar up the surface.

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

I was thinking a 240-320 grit ball type hone? The bore is pretty good as is no scrape marks etc. just clean cross hatch...just want to freshen up with new rings (already have them)while I've got it apart, new bearings etc. I've port matched the heads to the intake and lapped the valves. Just don't know what direction to go as far as hone for the moly rings.

Use very thick oil to hone with. 320 is rough for a moly ring.
