--hey moparts--

0--i just got my original AAR hood in the mail and i see what appears to be a light skim coat of bondo around where the scoop rises vertically on the sides if that makes sense. the hood looks great on the underside. It appears to be good up top. i do notice a few layers of paint. my question is

--would plymouth EVER apply bondo to a fiberglass hood?

thanks moparts

The vendor that made the hood probably did that, or if someone repaired it subsequently.

I had 70 Challenger R/T dual scoop hood had that had bondo on the raised portion in it from the factory. So it could be possible.

someone said they didnt have gel coat or something like that back in the 70's. so it may be possible --

Gelcoat definitely existed in the '60s & '70s, and I'm sure way back to the early '50s. I was working with gelcoat and both hand-laid & chopper-gun fiberglass in '70 and it had been around awhile by then.
If there were voids in the 'glass, or cracks, or some modification to get the fit/finish better, the repairer would likely use body filler due to convenience and repair speed.
