Why do you think someone HAS to have done that? That's a lot bigger tire than most people run.

I think it would work if you used a 10" rim with the right backspacing.

My 71 RR had 315 or 325 50R 15s on 10 inch wide rims when I bought it. At first I thought it was cool, but it didn't take long for me to see that it just looked rediculous. The car has SS springs and they were in the lower mounting hole on the front hanger which really had the car jacked up in the back. It had to be to clear the tires. Once in a while, the right side would rub going over bumps with more than just me in the car. I sold them and dropped down to an 8 inch wide rim and 275 60R 15s and moved the springs to the upper hole. Even considering lowering blocks now.

it has a 10 wide rim now with lots of room on the back side (3 3/4 backspacing) the front is even with the side of the 1/4 panel and dont have to be jacked up so just adding 2 more inches to the back side(for a total of 12 inches) should fit a 325 tire nice running a 8 wide wheel is just a waste might as well run a factory rim

Not when you have 4 inch rims on the front. I thought that the 50s didn't have enough sidewall too.

How much sidewall do you want?
No offense, but do you know what the tire numbers mean?

325/50-15

325 is the section width in millimeters across the tread. 325 mm = 12.8 inches
50 is the section height stated as a percentage of the section width. 325mm divided by 50% = 162.5mm = 6.4 inches
15 is obviously the wheel diameter.

A 325/50-15 is only 2 tenths of an inch shorter than a 275/60-15 that so many guys use out back. That's a puny 6 revolutions per mile different. Your speedo would be off by less than 1/2 of one percent.

I am running 295/65/15 on a 10 inch rim with a 5 inch back space on my 74 b-body and the just fit. I also have ¾ offset shackles. I don’t think a 325/50/15 on a 12 inch rim is going to work with stock spring location.

What brand tire is the 295/65-R15 tire you're using, and what size are your front tires? I have 15x8 rear and 15x7 front rims. I need 29-30" diameter tires in the rear to go with my 4.10's and would like to use matching front/rear brand tires.

Yeah Feets, I know what you're sayin'. When I was shopping online for the 275 60 15s I was comparing the specs between what I had, 325 50s and what I wanted, the 275 60 15s. I found that they have a very similar diameter / height. However, I can tell you that the 275 60 15s "look" like they have more sidewall. I don't know if it was because the 325s were on a 10 inch rim and should have been on a 12 inch rim. Doesn't the rim width effect the tire specs? Or perhaps it was just an optical illusion that the 325s looked shorter than the 275s. Anyway, I am happier with the "look" of the 275s over the 325s. Tell you one thing too, those 325s are big azz tires and were really heavy. I wonder what the weight difference was between the two sizes.

The front tires are 215/75/15 i think they are 28 inches tall. The 295's are BFG drag radials.
