Put Tim's red Valiant on the scales the other day. 3250 lbs with 55% on the nose. That is with a cast iron headed 360 in the engine bay and a cast iron four speed.
I wasn't surprised by the weight but the distribution was interesting. Side to side is pretty good as you would expect from the track car. We're going to see about pulling a bunch of weight out of the car.
The front to rear is awesome. I'm surprised.
Are you shooting for a target weight? Like 3,000 lbs?
Andy, Tim's car all steel no fiberglass right? It has a full cage, battery in the trunk, and aluminum radiator too? And IIRC, 1.24" T-bars up front that are like boat anchors!

We wrenched for a while today and got the drivetrain pulled out. Hot dirty work! Complete drivetrain weighs 670 lbs.

Aluminum heads and 833 case would trim that right down!

When you use greased plates on the scales, you really only need to grease one set of plates. Then you won't have to worry about leaning against the car. The greased set will give it the movement that it needs and the ungreased set will give it the stabilty to work around the car.

Just weighed my 68 Barracuda yesterday...
3412 lbs 56% front weight bias -360 with cast iron heads, 340 style cast iron exhausts, cast iron intake, AVS carb -727 auto trans with heavy A-body console -8 3/4 rear end -aluminum master cyl -12" front disk brake with pin calipers -mini starter -LaCarra steering wheel (lighter) -rear sway bar -1 1/4" hollow front sway bar (about same wt. as stock)
I need to get this car on a 400 lbs diet.

This may be a dumb question but, will lowering the height of the rear of the car add weight to the rear? I have the ability to lower the rear of the duster 1 3/4", I am going to do it regardless for appearance, but I am wondering if it will also put more weight to the rear.
