I don't think thats going to work, first drilling the springs won't be easy, second , 8" back would screw up the way the spring is made to work. Maybe you should look for a shorter spring, redo the mounts farther back, Maybe coil over shock set up?

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

It sounds like you either need to use the 47 Desoto springs or have some new springs made up. with the centering pin where you need it (stock location).

That or as stated, go to coil overs.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

If the front segment is 8" too long, is the back long or short? If you can, I'd move the spring forward in the car instead of re-drilling the center pin hole. 8" is a long way to move that center bolt. I too would have to wonder how the spring is going to work, unless your just drilling the main leaf and repositioning the rest of the springs to the new center pin location. Going to take a real good drill bit, lots of cutting oil, and a slow turning drill motor to drill that main leaf. then start small and work your way up to size. Cutting leaf springs is no picnic either. Gene

posies rod shop in hummelstown pa probably has leafs for that car,, under his super slide program,,if he has them which im sure he does,,they will bolt right in your stock location, and lower the car almost 2 inches, then he has or can get you shocks made to work with those springs that bilstein make, i have that set up in my 40 dodge,,and the leafs that were in my 40 dodge are now in a 48 dodge ,ide assume same springs in ur 47 desoto,,

also you can get springs at any local spring shop,,,or from EATON,,
