i`m trying to put an 8.75 in my 47 desoto. i have a 65 b-body and 69 b-body 8.75" they are both narrower than the rear that came in the desoto. the 69 is only about 1" narrower than the desoto rear. i want to use 15x7 police wheels. with the original rear, wheels and skinny bias ply tires there was only about 1.5" between the tire and frame. i can get a 68 c-body 8.75 which i`m sure is wider than the 69b-body. should i get it and see if it works? what have others used?

An E-Body rear was an exact bolt-in in the 55 Desoto that I'm building for Kayse.

The spring perches were the correct width (46) and the overall width was within a 1/4 inch.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

I'd get a tape measure out myself. That's how I found out the 9 1/4 out of a 79 Newport it my 38 Plymouth.

But that's just me.

If the rear end you have is only 1" narrower then what was there, and you did have 1 1/2" per side clearance, you should be OK, you will still have 1" clearance. I've run cars with a lot less then that without issues. Gene

I think you missed the part about the 1 1/2" of clearance being with the original style BIAS PLY skinnies on it, not the bigger rims he wants to run.

after measuting it looks like a truck rear will work. i found a 9.25 in a 78 ramcharger, 355`s and a 4.5"bp just what i need.

I run a 68 b body 8.75 in my 48 plym ,with a 15×8 wheel 4.25 bs 255/70/15 tires. You might be able to squeeze a finger between fender lip and frame rail on inside. I used straight edges and measured out for back space fitment in wheel well.

well i have the 9.25" ramcharger rear sitting in there now but got an 8.75 out of a 68 fury from the local u-pullit last week for $45 so i`m gonna use it with some 3.23`s i have. i don`t really care for the 9.25"`s axel bearing design, i`ve had problems with them in the past.

find a 8 3/4 from a 72/74 pickup. They are a little wider than the pre 72. It is the same dimention as the 9 1/4...

I am truckless..
