Wanting to replace the tires on my 99 Dakota R/T. I was looking at the Falken Ziex S/TZ01 size 275/50/17 or the Yokohama Geolander H/T-S size 275/55/17. I have run the Yokohamas before and was happy. But the Falkens cost a little less and have a neater lookn tread design. Any thoughts or additional feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

When I think of Falken tires I think of road noise. (At least that was the case with the tires on my wife's daily driver back in the late 1990s.)

They did handle the bad weather OK though.

I had Yokohama Avid S/Ts on my old '99 Dakota Sport. I really like those. Out performed the BFG Radial T/A and Comp T/A tires every time.

Thanks for the response Blues Cuda. I checked the reviews for each tire on the discount tire website. They both get 4 stars and very similar feedback. Anyone use the particular Falkens I mentioned?

I ran the falkens for a while on my rt, about 35k on all four. Not to bad, though if you put them up at the recommend tire pressure have fun trying to get traction. I had to run my like 35 to be any good on the street. Replaced them with Kuhmos because they were cheap (75 a tire at the time). I got the same milage out of the RSA that were from the factory. Personally I would do the Kuhmos again over any of them if the price is right. Oh and I dont drive my truck in the winters anymore but the RSA's and the Falkens behaved about the same with 300 lbs of weight in the bed.

I ended up running Dunlops on all of mine - 275/55/17's I think the model was SP Sports, the kumho's didn't last long for the amount of driving I was doing, I ran the Falkens for a while on my lowered truck but they looked too short on the other ones.

I've always had good luck with the 3 sets of RSA's on my truck - 117,000 miles on it now
