What are the pros and cons to this kit? I know it uses SB chevy rods. Will they clear the block without having to grind like you do using Mopar length rods? Seems like a good deal??

Would be nice if they told you WHICH Callies crank
they use... Callies sells multiple different variations
of forged cranks at different price tags

I sure wish they would start doing Mopar stuff in their Compstar line

Dave Moder(aka Moper) did my 416 motor using this kit. PM him for details. He did tell me that it was a pleasure for him to work with this kit.

Excellent finish on everything. It's a very nice kit.

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

I'm not sure this was made over seas for as long as
I've had it around here... if it was I was unaware
of it at the time

well I spoke with one of the big guys at Callies when I ordered mine and was told point blank that it was forged and machined right here in the good ol USA that was about 2 years ago if I remember correct he said they where forged in Ohio.
Maybe something has changed since then.

well just to clear this up I just got off the phone with Bruke at Callies Crankshaft and the Dragonslayer cranks are forged in Lansing Mi and machined at Callies so they are 100% USA

I've got one. Very nice quality with no issues. Did take some mallory to balance with diamond dish pistons and h-beams.

I use Callies Dragonslayers all the time, including a 3.79 I just put into my own personal Turbo motor.... so obviously yes I like their quality.

Wish they had not discontinued the 3.58 unit, as it was a nice Circle track piece... & yes they are forged in Michigan. The Brand X Callies CompStar cranks are forged in China, hence lower price than their dragonslayers.

Their Magnum Series cranks are very nice for forged (non billets) & are the preferred choice of alot of Sprint Car engine shops.... Buddy just got in a 38 lb 358 limited Sprint Callies Magnum XL & for what he paid (around $1800) it is a work of machining art...

Guess they don't share that info with "dealers"? Just sayin...

The Compstar Crank and Rods for my 565" looked like Jewelry....very nice pieces, I was more than impressed and according to Mike Thompson they were spot on.....they lived in the 565 and it's no slouch....I talked to them about future Mopar products and at the time they had no plans for any

I don't prefer Chinese, I do however prefer good quality parts.....bash away Tony
