Went for their first bracket race yesterday. The car went its best 60' of 1.36, which is about .05 better than its ever had. Too bad I was dead late first round (.133) and lost.

So the track did indeed re-open ?

I hadn't heard about problems w/ the county. Is it trivial PITA stuff or legit issues that could actually shut down the track again?

They were still working out some bugs in the timing system at the time..

I Bought the "Virginia Gentlemen" 2 years ago . The car was in Hollywood FL in a warehouse for 20 years. John Boughers owned it from 1967 to 1982, he sold it to Gino in FL. He raced it till 1989 and then went into storage from 1989 till Jan 2008 some 19 years. I didnt know it was the "Virginia Gentlemen" till after I bought it.

Thats to cool as I bracket raced that Vette at Capital around 1980. I remember it like yesterday as that was the first night my 340 Dart dipped in the 11's. And I won that race against him. Ron

I remember when he drove it to the track when it was painted green and raced it (mid 70's). I'll have to look through my old pics. He was a great guy. Eventually moved up (or down) to a 69 Camaro, then vanished from the scene.

All the details on the find of the car is on the Vet forum. The local guys that raced at 75-80 seen the car on vet forum and updated me on the history of the "Virginia Gentlemen" Pretty kool story on the car. I didn't know it was the "V.G." I thought I bought some hot rodded drag vet.
