I have a friend visiting and he needs to remove some paint from some interior panels that were painted some time ago. He wants to redye them correctly. What should he use to strip without damaging the grain or plastic?

Thanks. Joe

I have had good luck with plain old car wax and a good stiff brush but recently read that you can use Easy Off oven cleaner. Spray it down and then wrap it in a plastic bag or saran wrap, let sit overnight and then brush off and rinse and re dye in the color you want. Although I have never personally tried this method.

Whatever you decide on using, test a little on the back side to see if it softens up the plastic first. Hate to see you open up that bag in the morning to be greeted by a pile of ooze.

Easy off (not the descented stuff) works good on styrene, as in plastic models. As stated, check on the back side of the part.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I know there had been post on the subject before but couldn't find the thread. I gave him the info. before he left and he was very appreciative.
