96 2.0 automatic.

Starts and runs fine, after running about 10-15 minutes,it jerks like it's misfiring, then shuts off. Restarts after just a few minutes like nothing's happened.

Anything common with these? Cleaned battery terminals, as this did this a week or so ago. FWIW, battery light comes on, maybe this is common?

Fuel pumps fairly new, you can hear it pumping when you try to start it.

Clues anyone?

got codes?

The key on/off/on/off/on trick works.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Tried that, and nothing. Just before it died, the check engine light came on.

Will a bad coil pack do this?

Replace the crank sensor and check the wiring from the sensor back through the harness. The wires like to melt together. Repaired a bunch that way. They where doing the same thing. No codes nothing.

Mine did that when the fuel pump was getting weak- not dead- just weak- it still had 25 lbs but would misfire and stall such as what you are having. It may not hurt to put a guage on it and see what it's doing....

My Neon SRT-4 ran the same way when I first bought it. I bought a fuel pressure gauge with a long hose from amazon.com. I put the gauge up on the windshield and went for a ride. In second gear the fuel pressure dropped to 24 lbs. I would Check your fuel pressure first.

My wifes 00 2.0 Neon eats plugs about once a year. It will do what you say and new sparkers clears it up. It's weird, but thats what it does.

this is gonna sound crazy, but worth checking ou t. we had a similar problem and it turned out to be a loose ground connetion in the trunk area. pull down carpting under driverside trunk hinge to check it out. this was a factory grounding point for several things. some meathead had decided to ground speakers there and left the connection loose. car kept dying for no reason til i found this.
