The 4.7 is fine for light towing but the short WB of the Grand is not the best I love the wifes 2001 Grand Cherokee 4.7 though--we get 20 mPG and it is very peppy--No room up front for guys---the window controls etc stick out from the door too much and the footwell is very narrow--

I have a 2008 with the 4.7L. It tows my boat, or a car on a open trailer very well. I have the factory towing package as well. Keep in mind they made major changes to the 4.7L starting with the 2008 model year that bumped it up to 305hp. I towed my boat from the San Francisco area up to the Spokane area last summer and got 16.5mpg for the drive which blew me away. I give it -Jon
