Trying to install repop rocker moldings, bought the repop clip kit too. How the heck do the black metal clips with the little wire spring thingy work? Thanks!

Typically the clips slide into/onto the molding, and the wire spring serves to hold them on the molding, then the molding is installed. The alternate method is to install the clips on the car and then work the molding onto the clips, but that's a pain in the butt.

My 68 sport satellite had plastic clips installed in the body the molding would snap over. They would have a center that was plastic also that after the clip was slid into the body hole, you would push the center in so it would expand in the hold to stay in place.

thats how 68's should be. Im not sure what year clips the OP is speaking of.

your problem could be attempting to use incorrect hardware.

There are only plastic clips in rocker and lower fender. Molding snaps on. No spring clips on 68. Don't think any on 69 or 70 either.
