I would like to put a Evac system on my 360 strictly strip footbrake bracket car. Can I put just collectors on my open headers then weld the nipples on? I measured the inside of the big tube where all my tubes come together and it measures 2.75 so do I need a 3" collector?
I'd go with the 3" if you can get it on... how long is the collector on the header... I think you would like a total collector length of about 16"- 18" what are the primary tube diameters

Primary OD 1.625, Collector OD 3.0, Collector length on the header is 8.0 On the right side I might be able to go straight back for a total of 12" before I run into issue's with the tranny crossmember.
Go with the 3" and try to make them as long as you can without running into problems with the cross member try to keep it far enough away so you dont restrict exit flow

How far do you think I should stay back from the cross member?

Good question.. You would think this setup would isolate the other cylinders ablity to help scavange exh gasses?
Plus your looking for the biggest volume of air to get the biggest vac... which in this style of system isnt much anyways... only about 5"hg... that #8 line isnt very big right at the fitting

it came down to the easist point to fit. the collector is hard up against the chassis rail so if i was to place in the collector i would have to run the -8 line to the other side which would mean the line would snagg with the tire on hard lock. as it is, we have reduced turning radius so didn't want to make it worse. we looked at some different options but decided on simplicity in the end since the collector is extremely short & cut back on an angle as not to catch on the trailer during unloading. it seems to work fine like this & so it will stay like this till we step up to a vac pump & dry sump. at the end of the day we're only bracket racing & not going for world records so it simply doesn't matter.
